"Tractors is so dumb..."

Fast becoming Thomas' favourite toys from Christmas are the set of Disney Cars characters that he had. Almost every scene from the film has now been acted out in glorious 3D!

Sadly, for them, Mummy and Daddy also know the whole film off by heart, too!

Green fingers

Usually, the only reason Hannah and Thomas have green fingers is because they've been picking their noses! But, today they've been putting into practise everything that they've learnt from Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men.

Hopefully we'll have some beautiful flowers to enjoy in the Spring.

Look what Father Christmas brought us!

Hannah, Thomas and Will must have been on their best behaviour this year, because Father Christmas brought them sackfuls of presents!

Here's Hannah showing off her new Cinderella dress - one side is poor old Cinderella, but turn it inside out and 'Abracadabra', your wish is granted!

Thomas had a superb scooter, complete with flashing lights. He can already do a full lap of the house (inside) in 12.9 seconds!

Will enjoyed the wrapping paper!

Two Christmases for the price of one!

Just like the Queen with her two birthdays, we celebrated two Christmases this year! The official one, on the 25th December, was to be spent with Nanny, Grumpy, Auntie Jan, Uncle Mike, James and Bethan, while we also had an early Christmas with Granny, Grandad, Uncle Tim, Auntie Abby, Chloe and Anya on the weekend before.

It was a great excuse to stuff our faces with some nice food!

Proper food

Will had his first taste of real (as in, not milk!) food today, and seemed quite impressed with the taste.

It was a strawberry yoghurt that he started with, which went down well. Bring on the turkey and brussel-sprouts, now!

Upstairs, downstairs

Santa came early to the Hurley Home this week, with a delivery of a new bunk bed for Hannah and Thomas (and for Thomas and Will, in future years...). The looks on Hannah and Thomas' faces say it all - they can't wait until bedtime!

The big question on Mum and Dad's mind, though, is whether having a bunk bed where Hannah and Thomas can't easily see each other in the night will mean more sleep than before, when their beds were opposite each other and it was easy to chat all night!

And finally, here's a photo of Dad putting some finishing touches to the bunk bed, and trying it out for size. And, yes, he did fall asleep on there later that afternoon!

Christmas stars

Hannah and Thomas had their Christmas plays this week, and both did very well!

Hannah's play was all about Christmas cards, and the stories behind the pictures that appear on them. She was dressed as someone from a 'snow-scene', with the well-practised line of "Oh no, not as long ago as that!"

Thomas played the part of a shepherd in his Christmas play, and also had to sing the nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty"!

All the hard work and rehearsals paid off, though, as both plays went very smoothly.

Harsh, but fair

Our local nursery has some very traditional views on child discipline!

We miss you Nan-Nan!

It was a very sad day today, as we said goodbye to Nan-Nan (Andy's Nan).

Marge had been ill for a number of years, since she had her stroke, and had been very ill recently. She passed away quietly on 20th November.

We're glad that Will had a chance to meet her before she went - here's a photo of Nan-Nan giving him a cuddle a few weeks ago.

Neither Hannah, Thomas nor Will ever met Nan-Nan when she was her old self, but we've got lots of stories to share with them about her life and her great sense of humour. She was everything a Nan should be!

Toasty

Recipe for baby stew:

  1. Place push chair next to radiator.
  2. Dress child in super-cosy, nice-and-toasty pram suit.
  3. Place child in push chair and leave to simmer for 30 minutes!

(He tasted delicious!)

Four out of five...

...with only one of us not smiling! And it might be that Will is actually smiling under that coat of his, but that's not what the rest of his face is saying!

These photos were taken on a trip to Tredegar House grounds. There were some very strange squirrels around...

It seems that this squirrel is looking for nuts nits in my hair!

Driving lessons

Nothing beats driving lessons from your big brother!

Our car insurance is going to go through the roof in about 17 years time...

Aren't I cute?

Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth!

Trainee sword swallower

With sword swallowing, it's a good idea to start off slow and small, and work up your way gradually to the 'Excalibur' size swords.

Shock, horror!

Will can't believe that England are through to the final of the Rugby World Cup...

Riding on a donkey...

The 'ultimate party contest' stepped up a gear this weekend when Hannah was invited to a 'Pony Party'...

Hannah loved riding the ponies, so we'll be patiently waiting for the "Can I have a pony for Christmas?" question in the next few weeks!

And it looks like the only way we'll be able to top that party is by taking Hannah and her friends to Disneyland for the next birthday!

It's impossible...

...we'll never get a photo of all three of them smiling at the same time!

See, we told you he was smiling!

Super Tomio

Thomas, I hate to break it to you, but I really don't think that Will is that interested in your new high score on Super Mario...

Tiggerific

The wonderful thing about Tiggers is...

...when skinned, they make incredibly comfy baby seats!

Windypops

Here's a photo of Hannah giving a helping hand to Will, to encourage a huge burp!

I really don't think Thomas wants to be patting the other end, though!

There were three in the bed...

If we'd known that they could all fit in the same bed, then we wouldn't have bothered building the extension!

Feeling cozy

There's nothing quite like getting out of the bath, and wrapping up in a giant towel!

Saying goodbye

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Uncle Tim, Auntie Abby, Chloe and Anya today, as they travelled back home to Norwich. We did have an opportunity for a family photo, though, and the odds are high that a very similar photograph will appear in the next Christmas letter from the Pages!

The cutest photo, though, came courtesy of Thomas, Anya and Will!

Who's that trip-trapping on my bridge?

Another day, another day-trip! This time to 'Seven Locks' where there are, apparently, seven locks. We were more worried about 'Tim the Troll' who kept appearing on the bridges that we were crossing!

Will? He just slept...

Rub-a-dub-dub

Here's a great photo of Hannah, Thomas and Anya sailing in the boat that Grandad made for them.

Not really sure why they're all wearing pyjamas, but Thomas looks particularly fetching in Anya's spare pink PJs!

Here be dragons

Will's third day-trip took him (and the rest of the family) to Roath Park, where we got to see the fantastic statue of the red-dragon beating the white-dragon (which is what we're hoping will happen in the upcoming Rugby World Cup!)

Thomas and Anya had a competition to see who could be the shortest...

...and this is just a really nice picture of Hannah!

There's no photo to prove it, but Will spent most of the trip asleep again!

Happy Birthday, Grandma

Grandma (or Granny as she's starting to become known) celebrated her second 60th birthday today! Here she is opening her presents, while Uncle Tim and Grandad pray that it's not a rolling-pin!

Here comes Frank!

Hannah and Thomas were able to put their fears of combine harvesters aside and climb up onto a 'Frank' look-alike at Cefn Mably Farm Park today. If you're not sure what a 'Frank' is, then we highly recommend that you watch the 'Cars' movie!

And what did Will make of his second ever day-trip? He pretty much slept right through it!

Will's big day out

Having reached the dizzy heights of eight-days-old, Will took his first ever day trip today to the Heath Park Model Railway.

It was a big family day out, with Uncle Tim, Auntie Abby, Chloe, Anya, Grandma and Grandad all along for the ride. Here's an 'on-train' view of our first ride:

Hannah enjoyed catching up with Chloe, and sharing details on missing teeth.

While Thomas took the opportunity to spend some quality time with his cousin Anya.

And what did Will make of it all? He pretty much spent the whole outing asleep!
